The ARKAD Foundation includes among its activities the organization of artists' residences, aimed at all Italian and international artists who wish to make a study stay in the home of marble.

In 2010 the ARKAD Foundation published an important volume entitled "MONUMENTAL ABSTRACT", edited by Valentina Fogher, published by Gli Ori of Pistoia and dedicated to contemporary marble sculpture made in the Apuo-Versilia area. Sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Tuscany Region, the Provinces of Lucca and Massa Carrara and all the Municipalities of the Apuan-Versilia area, from Pietrasanta to Carrara, "MONUMENTAL ABSTRACT" presents an original research, unique in the national publishing panorama, which aims to promote and enhance the great culture of the art of Versilia.

CONTENT
The volume comes  in 292 color pages, it opens with the presentation of the Apuan-Versilian basin, with the fundamental component of the quarries and sculpture workshops and follows  in the second part with a significant selection of over fifty projects by international artists realized in the last twenty years. The book is accompanied by an important apparatus of images that illustrate the territory, the characteristics of the material, the different processing methods and the final installation of the works in public and private spaces around the world.
